Aluminum Header And Side Plates In Auto Radiator

Aluminum header plates where the plastic coolant tanks sit in, are an essential part of a auto radiator's construction. In an aluminum core auto radiator, these header plates are typically also made of aluminum.

Function and Position: Header plates are located at the ends of the radiator core, where they act as base for the plastic coolant tanks. They are typically found on the top and bottom ends of the radiator core or on the sides depending on the design. The plastic tanks crimp with the header plates. The heat coolant in tanks enter one end via an inlet, travels through the tubes in the core of the radiator, losing heat in the process, and then exits via the outlet into the engine.

Material and Construction: As with the tubes and fins in the core, aluminum is commonly used for the header plates because of its excellent heat transfer properties and lightweight nature. The header plates are welded to the core. The material is clad aluminum alloy 4343/3003/7072.

Design: The design of the header plates can influence the performance of the radiator. The holes on the header plates are for the tubes. The core size for example 638mm ,which has 63pcs tubes. And for the large engine ,the designs of the header plates are wider and longer which fit for the multi row tubes for better cooling performance.

In auto radiator, The side plates might refer to the side brackets or mounts used to support the aluminum radiator core. These are designed to safely hold the radiator in place even while the vehicle is moving, absorbing shocks and vibrations. This overall construction prevents damage to the radiator. The side plate, normally thickness is 1.5mm,the material is aluminum alloy 4343/3003.

For an aluminum radiator, the specific design and dimension of these side plates largely depend on the vehicle model and the space designed for the radiator in the engine bay. Some might be simple flat plates while others could be more complex shapes.
